Consumer Rep's Needed



Would you like to be paid to sit on a committee occasionally?


CAHMA is currently looking for people who use the ACT's drug and alcohol services to sit on committees as consumer representatives. Consumer representatives help drug and alcohol services to run better programs by giving them information and feedback from the point of view of the consumer or client. In other words, from someone who uses the service but doesn't work at a service.

Consumer rep's are usually paid a 'sitting fee' for their time and knowledge. There is also training available, that CAHMA can organise, which will help you understand the 'ins and outs' of being a consumer rep.

CAHMA encourages all of our clients to think about being a consumer rep, but we do need people who are committed to attending each meeting.

 

There are two committees that need consumer rep's at present:

1. The Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) Advisory Group: The NSP Advisory Group is a group which meets once every three months. It discusses issues relating to needle and syringe provision in the ACT.

2. Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) "Safety, Quality & Risk Reduction Committee" is a monthly meeting which is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 9:30.am - 11:30.am. There is a $75 fee paid to the rep for attending each sitting of this committee.
